[Overview Turn 1]

mediaobject

[Khador Turn 2]

Sorscha upkept Fog of War and everything ran.

mediaobject

[Cygnar Turn 2]

The Fireflies ran forward to function as triangulation points. The plan was to triangulate some Winter Guards out of the way, to allow the Charger to pump two fully boosted shots into Sorscha. But the Firefly on the right flank was some milimeters out of range for a triagulation attack! The Charger then dealt some damage to the Juggernaut.

mediaobject

[Khador Turn 3]

The Destroyer charged the Firefly and gave her a beating. The engaged Winter Guards moved up and hit the Firefly with their axes, but were not able to damage the light 'jack.. Sorscha then moved up to the Firefly and dealt some more damage.

mediaobject

[Khador Turn 3]

While the engaged Winter Guard clubbed the Firefly, the other Winter Guards CRAed the Stormsmith Stormcaller

mediaobject

[Cygnar Turn 3]

The Firefly killed one of the Winter Guards. The Charger advanced and again shot at the Juggernaut, dealing some more points of damage. The other models advanced, the Stormsmith Stormcaller moved around the chapel and triangulated which caused some damage to Sorscha.

mediaobject

[Khador Turn 4]

The Juggernaut charged the Firefly and finished her off. The Destroyer aimed his Bombard at the Charger and damaged it slightly. The Winter Guard moved protectively araound Sorscha and CRAed the second Stormsmith Stormcaller.

mediaobject

[Cygnar Turn 4]

Dieter had to leave at this point and Matthias took over.

The Charger on the Cygnar left flank was out of eNemo's command range and could be allocated any Focus Points. eNemo kept all his focus, advanced and killed two Winter Guard with Electrical Blast. He then targeted and hit the Juggernaut with Galvanic Bolt, immobiliing it and also pinning the Destroyer in place. He then popped his Feat and collected all the Focus his 'jacks would not need this turn to boost his armour.

The Firefly protectively moved in front of him, and then shot her Storm Blaster at the Juggernaut, electro leaping to the Destroyer. The Charger moved towards it's Warcaster and placed two fully boosted shots into the Juggeraut. Due to the high armour only a few damage points came through, but slowly the Juggernaut felt the constant harassment.

The other Charger and the remaining Stormcaller ran towards the frontline.

[Overview Turn 4]

mediaobject

[Khador Turn 5]

Now Sorscha popped her Feat, making all Cygnar models except the Stormcaller stationary.

The Destroyer placed a shot of his bombard with a boosted damage roll on eNemo, dealing several points of damage. The two remaining Winter Guard moved forward a shot at eNemo as well, but dealt no damage.

mediaobject

[Cygnar Turn 5]

eNemo spent 3 Focus to lift the stationy effect off of him, the Firefly and the Charger besides him. The Charger on the hill missed this turn.

eNemo again hit the Juggernaut with the Galvanic Bolt, making him miss another turn and again preventing the Destroyer from moving. The Firefly in front of eNemo, killed one of the Winter Guard with his Storm Blaster and the last Winter Guard with the electro leap effect.

mediaobject

[Cygnar Turn 5]

The Charger piled some more points of damage on the Juggernaut as did the Stormsmith (rolling a double 6!).

mediaobject

[Khador Turn 6]

Sorscha did not upkeep Fog of War any longer, allocated one point of Focus to the Destroyer and then moved forward to get eNemo into LOS. She then cast Freezing Grip on him,vto allow the Destroyer an easy shot on him. But he forgot, that although the Bomard can fire in an arc ignoring intervening models, it is not able to ignore intervening models within 1" of the target. So he had to shoot at the Firefly and then catch eNemo with the blast damage - wich he did, boosted and dealt some more damage points to eNemo. But Sorscha's spell basically was wasted.

mediaobject

[Cygnar Turn 6]

eNemo allocated two Focus to the Firfly and kept the rest. The Firefly then head-butted Sorscha to make her stationary, but even with the boosted roll the Firefly missed! eNemo, being a rather old man, was then only able to deal some points of damage to her instead of finishing her off. The two Chargers and the Stormcaller joined in the fray for a couple more points, but still Sorscha lived.

mediaobject

[Khador Turn 7]

The Destroyer advanced and killed the last Stomcaller. The Juggernaut advanced and hit one Charger in the back for several points of damage.

Sorscha then disposed of eNemo.

Debriefing

    Concerning the rules:

The game's great appeal is, in contrast to many other games, that you are very variable concerning your tactic. Spending Focus Points significantly (or better exclusively) accounts for this. By being able to use them both offensively and defensively on your leader model, your opponent must adjust to both possibilities. For beginners the diversity of the special rules is not manageable. In contrast, the basic rules are very simple.

    Concerning the battle:

With the opponent's dispersed deployment it was my goal to advance as tight as possible over one flank to prevent being outflanked. Additionally I hoped to destroy the smaller enemy groups piecemeal through local and temporary outnumbering. This I only managed to a limited extend, my opponent almost managed a dangerous triangulation setup in his second turn.

After Matthias replaced Dieter as player, eNemo's Feat turn surprised me. At this point the Feat was completely out of my mind. Towards the end I forgot about another rule and choose the wrong tactic, as I was not able to use indirect fire on eNemo. This surely had cost me victory, if it had not been for the following missing headbutt attack on Sorscha.

All in all it was a narrow victory, where luck was with the novice player (as it should be).

When I took over, it did not look very good for Cygnar. One 'jack and one Stomcaller were gone, the rest of the force spread in a line along the table, while the Khadorian forces were all together. True to Page5's motto 'COME HEAVY, OR DON'T COME AT ALL', I decided it was time to get more aggressive. I managed to more or less neutralize the two Khadorian Heavy 'jacks and get rid of the Winter Guard. I then even badly hurt Sorscha, but it was too late to win. But at least I can blame Dieter :-)
