25 pts | Khador & Khador & Legion of Everblight & Skorne | Revelation (SR2011)

This Steampunk game was played on 2013-11-30 at Matthias' place using Hordes/Warmachine-Rules (set in ' Iron Kingdoms ') and 28mm miniatures. This report was written by Matthias.

Briefing

SitRep

The Skorne and the minions of Everblight both found clues leading to the whereabouts of one of Everblights siblings. Both factions were interested in obtaining the Arthanc of that Dragon and soon minor skirmishes were fought in the area the sleeping beast was rumoured to be in.

For unknown reasons to both Hexeris and Thagrosh, a quite substantial force from Khador suddenly moved into the area as well. It might be that the Greylords are also hunting for an Athanc, but that remains unsure as no Greylord was part of the Khadorian troops.

As both Thagrosh and Hexeris did not have the manpower to defeat the Khador casters, let alone each other in addition to that, an uneasy pact was reached to combine forces and drive the Khador intruders from the area, before continuing to search for the Athanc... and fight each other again...

Special Rules / Adaptions

This was our first multi-waraster/warlock-per-side battle. We ruled, that the troops of the Warcaster/Warlocks on the same side were friendly faction models. Other than that, we used normal rules but made sure, that the turn sequence was Khador-Legion-Khador-Skorne, so to not have the allied forces acting directly after the other.

[Deployment - Legion]

mediaobject

[Deployment - Khador, Sorscha]

mediaobject

[Deployment - Skorne]

Hexeris had a Tier 1 list, so he his troops were able to start the game under the effects of his upkeep spells. The Razor Worm had ‹ Soul Slave › on him, the Praetorian Swordmen ‹ Death March › and Hexeris himself was under the effect of ‹ Vampiric Reaving › .

mediaobject

[Advanced Deployment - Skorne]

The Razor Worm was deployed forward, being hidden from the Khadoran forces by the cottage.

mediaobject

[Advanced Deployment - Khador]

Khador advance deployed two Manhunter (a male in the wood in the foreground, a female on the other flank) as well as the Widowmaker, behind the wood in the foreground.

mediaobject

[Khador, Old Witch - Turn 1]

The Winterguard ran forward, together with Scrapjack and the Manhunter. Bernd noticed at that moment, what he had predicted before the battle would happen: Having played Hordes exclusively for over a year, he forgot to allocate Focus at the beginning of the turn. Generously, Björn and Matthias allowed him to do so now.

The Old Witch channelled ‹ Iron Flesh › through Scrapjack on the Winterguard. She then cheesily charged the Winterguard, to gain 3 more inches of movement.

The Gun Carriage ran forward followed by Beast 09.

mediaobject

[Legion of Everblight - Turn 1]

The Shredders advanced. The Carnivean used his Animus ‹ Spiny Growth › on himself, was riled for 1 and ran forward. The Forsaken followed behind the 'beast and collected his Fury. The Angelius also ran, following the Shredders.

Thagrosh advanced and cast ‹ Draconic Blessing › on the Carnivean, followed by ‹ Fog of War › on himself. He finished the turn by using ‹ Tenacity › on himself as well.

mediaobject

[Khador, Sorscha - Turn 1]

Sorscha allocated one Focus to the Spriggan, who then ran forward.

The Winter Guard Officer ordered ‹ Bob & Weave › and also ran forward with his soldiers. The unit was then motivated by the Kovnik, who gave a speach addressing the ‹ Courage of the Forefathers › .

Sorsha advanced and cast ‹ Iron Flesh › on the Winter Guard unit and ‹ Shatterstorm › on the Widowmaker. Her Wardog ran protectively in front of her.

The Manhunter in Sorscha's Battlegroup ran around the chapel on a flanking manoeuvre.

mediaobject

[Khador, Sorscha - Turn 1]

The Widowmaker ran forward, taking up position on the edge of the wood, the Marksmen trailing them.

mediaobject

[Skorne - Turn 1]

The Titan Gladiator advanced and used his Animus ‹ Rush › on the Razor Worm. He was then riled for 2 Fury.

The Cyclops advanced as well, and used his Animus ‹ Prescience › on Hexeris, in return he was also riled for 1.

Marketh used ‹ Spell Slave › to cast ‹ Soulfire › on a Beast Handler. He killed his fellow Skorne, thus helping Hexeris to one more Fury point.

The Praetorian Swordmen ran forward, the Beast Handler advanced.

Now started my planned move to kill the Old Witch in the first turn, the other actions so far had prepared it. The Razor Worm ran forward, so that Hexeris could cast ‹ Soulfire › through him as he was affected by ‹ Soul Slave › . As the Razor Worm has ‹ Eyless Sight › , he was able to see the Old Witch through the wood. Bernd then objected that Hexeris would be able to hit her, which resulted in some frantic rule book reading and forum searches. But he turned out to be right. Hexeris was able to see the Old Witch due to the Razor Worms ability, but as all attacks against ‹ Stealth › ed targets miss unless the attacker has ‹ Eyeless Sight › himself, his ‹ Soulfire › spells would all auto miss. I hate Warmahordes with its wonderfully designed interlocking rules... Bernd allowed the spell which would have missed automatically to be re-targeted, so I attacked the Winterguards. The first ‹ Soulfire › missed (rolling a 3), the second hit and killed his target, which paid back one Fury to Hexeris. The second target was missed narrowly, so Hexeris decided to boost that roll retroactively (possible due to ‹ Prescience › ) and killed that target as well, which returned another point of Fury. This Hexeris then discarded.

So in the end this turn was not so glorious as I had it planned... I must do my homework better next time when planning such moves.

mediaobject

[Overview at the end of Turn 1]

mediaobject

[Khador, Old Witch - Turn 2]

Zevannah upkept ‹ Iron Flesh › .

The Gun Carriage forfeited its movement to gain the aiming bonus when opening up on the Praetorian Swordmen. The first shot hit, covered one target and killed it.

mediaobject

[Khador, Old Witch - Turn 2]

The second shot missed and deviated, catching two targets of which one was killed.

mediaobject

[Khador, Old Witch - Turn 2]

The sharpshooter embarrased himself with not hitting, although he had taken such careful aim...

mediaobject

[Khador, Old Witch - Turn 2]

The Winter Guard advanced, then ‹ CRA › ed the Razor Worm in groups of 2, 2 and 3; causing 10, 3 (crippling the Body aspect) and 9 points of damage, killing the 'beast. The Fury on the Razor Worm was reaved by Hexeris.

Srapjack advanced together with the Old Witch, which then popped her Feat. She arc noded ‹ Gallows › on the Void Spirit with a boosted attack and damage roll, sending the spirit back to the Void.

mediaobject

[Legion Turn 2]

Thagrosh leached 6 Fury and gained an additional one due to ‹ Athanc › . He upkept all his spells.

The Shredder all went ‹ Rabid › and charged one Winter Guard each. Then they found out, that their teeth and claws are no help against ‹ Iron Skin › (DEF 17)... They scored a miss, miss, miss and finally a hit, which failed to wound as rolling 1-1-1 exactly matched the Winter Guard's armour but unfortunately did not beat it... To add insult to injury, one Shredder moved into the Old Witch's Feat area, suffering 5 points of damage from the POW 14 hit.

mediaobject

[Legion Turn 2]

The Carnivean advanced and spew ‹ Dragon Breath › towards the enemy, Björn covered two with the Template, but missed both even though both rolls were boosted... Björn, please learn rolling the dice... ;-)

mediaobject

[Legion Turn 2]

Thagrosh advanced and and casted ‹ Obliteration › on the Winter Guard unit. He missed, the template deviated but still catched one. As we were used to by now, Björn again managed to have the damage roll exactly equal the armour value...

mediaobject

[Legion Turn 2]

The Angelius advanced and killed the Manhunter with a fully boosted roll.

The Forsaken advanced into the wood.

mediaobject

[Khador, Sorscha - Turn 2]

Sorsha did not upkeep ‹ Iron Flesh › and allocated 3 Focus to the Spriggan. She then advanced and feated, followed by casting ‹ Desperate Pace › on the Winterguard.

The Widowmaker on the other flank forfeited their movement to aim, and killed 4 Praetorian Swordmen. The marksman killed one as well, the resulting Fear test was passed by the Skorne.

The Spriggan advanced and attacked two Shredders. He boosted his first attack roll and hit, due to the active Feat the damage caused was doubled and the Shredder killed. The second Shredder was also hit by a boosted attack and speared by the Spriggan's lance as well. Thagrosh reaved all four Fury points from the two lesser Warbeasts.

mediaobject

[Khador, Sorscha - Turn 2]

Joseph advanced and gave a speach to praise the ‹ Bear Strength › before he hit the Carnivean with his handgun, but the bullet was deflected by the carapace of the 'beast.

The Winterguard Officer then issued a charge order, the resulting rush engaged all Circle models except Thagrosh himself.

One Winterguard model charged the Forsaken which triggered a Fear test due to ‹ Abomination › which the unit failed. Fortunately, the flag accompanying the unit allowed for a reroll which the unit passed. The attack against the Forsaken hit, but due to ‹ Death Shroud › from Thagrosh the rolled damage was reduced to 0.

Two Winterguard ‹ CMA › ed one Shredder but missed. The next two Winterguard ‹ CMA › ed the next Shredder but also missed. This second Shredder was then attacked by on sole Winterguard, but he missed as well.

The Carnivean was also ‹ CMA › ed by two, hit and received one point of damage, which was also lower than it would have been due to ‹ Death Shroud › , but was then doubled to 2 due to the Feat. The next ‹ CMA › from again two Winterguard caused a massive 12 damage points.

The attack on the Angelius missed.

mediaobject

[Skorne Turn 2]

The Praetorian Swordmen, having suffered casualties since their last turn, were allowed a ‹ Vengeance › move. As the Feat of the Old Witch was still active, they used the move to withdraw towards the Skorne left flank.

Hexeris upkept ‹ Psychic Vampire › but did not upkeep ‹ Death March › .

Both Warbeasts shuffled around slighty, eager to not get into the Feat area. Both were then riled for 3.

The swordsmen continued the move started by their ‹ Vengeance › movement towards the other flank.

Hexeris also withdrew and cast ‹ Soulslave › on the Gladiator and ‹ Death March › on the Beasthandler.

mediaobject

[Overview at the end of Turn 2]

mediaobject

[Khador, Old Witch - Turn 3]

The Witch upkept ‹ Iron Flesh › for free.

The battle engine advanced slightly and fired both heavy cannons on the Cyclops, but the gunners overestimated the maximum firing distance of their guns. One shot deviated backwards but hit nothing, the other deviated and hit one Beasthandler. The blast damage roll exactly matched the armour of the Skorne, thus failing to harm him.

mediaobject

[Khador, Old Witch - Turn 3]

The Winter Guard opposite the Skorne troops ran forward, while the Manhnter slightly repositioned behind the cottage. The Witch then cast ‹ Avatar of Slauhter › on Scrappy, moved to the edge of the wood and casted ‹ Murder of Crows › .

mediaobject

[Khador, Old Witch - Turn 3]

Beast 04 advanced.

mediaobject

[Legion Turn 3]

Thagrosh collected as much Fury as possible, but two Shredders were left with. Both failed their Threshold check and frenzied. While one managed to bite one Winter Guard to death, another Winter Guard fought off the attack of the second Shredder.

Thagrosh upkept all spells. He then spent one Fury to heal the crippled mind of the Carnivean. Next, he attacked the Winter Guard in front of the Angelius and dispatched of the model with a boosted to hit roll. Following this attack, he casted ‹ Spiny Growth › on himself for free, before he healed another point of damage on the Carnivean's Mind.

The Carnivean attacked the Winter Guards. With his bite attack he devoured the head of one, his two claws ripped two Winter Guard apart. For one Fury, an additional attack yet killed another.

The Forsaken attacked with a boosted attack roll and caused another death. The resulting panic test was passed.

Björn and myself shortly debated and decided against letting the Legion score this turn; otherwise the second objective would give easy VPs for Khador before Skorne could deny it - ‹ Murder of Crows › sucks.

The Angelius advanced and killed yet another Winter Guard.

mediaobject

[Khador, Sorscha - Turn 3]

The Spriggan got 4 Focus allocated.

The Kovnik gave the speach of ‹ Bear's Strength › to a Winter Guard unit, then charged a Shredder, dealing 10 points of damage thus crippling the Mind of the lesser Warbeast.

One Winter Guard then finished the 'beast off. Two more Winter Guards then CMAed against the second Shredder for 5 points of damage, while two comrades repeated the manoevre for 7 points of damage - crippling the mind and spirit aspect.

Sorsha advanced and casted ‹ Boundless Charge › on the Spriggan. The Spriggan then charged the Carnivean. The charge attack with the lance hit with a boosted roll, then caused 3 points of damage. The Carnivean caused 3 damage in return due to ‹ Spiny Growth › . The assault shield hit as well, and caused 2 points of damage for a return damage of 3 points. An additional lance attack hit, and caused 12 points of damage with a boosted roll - crippling body and mind and leaving the 'beast with 1 health point, for 1 point of return damage. The second addtional attack finished the beast off with 4 points of damage.

View from the other side of the battlefield.

mediaobject

[Khador, Sorscha - Turn 3]

The Widowmakers on the other flank engaged the Beast Handlers. The first advanced and missed. The second missed due to the crater left by the Gun Carriage attack providing cover. The third Widowmaker finally found his mark and lived up to his name.

mediaobject

[Skorne Turn 3]

Hexeris upkept ‹ Soul Slave › , using a soul token from the Aptimus. The Beast Handlers were allowed a 3" advance due to ‹ Vengeance › .

The Gladiator used ‹ Rush › on himself, then advanced.

Hexeris advanced and Feated. ‹ Obliteration › was cast through the Gladitator on the Marksman solo who was killed. Another Widowmaker died due to blast damage.

mediaobject

[Skorne Turn 3]

Thanks to the Feat, the Marksman solo attacked the Widowmaker behind him but missed, as did the Widowmaker who died due to blast damage.

mediaobject

[Skorne Turn 3]

The Beast Handlers charged the Winter Guard unit and killed one. That undead Winter Guard then also did not manage to kill a comrade.

mediaobject

[Skorne Turn 3]

Marketh used his ‹ Spell Slave › ability to kill another Winter Guard, who in turn also did not manage to hit his former comrade.

mediaobject

[Skorne Turn 3]

The hoped for fraternicide of Khador models unfortunately did not take place.

mediaobject

[Skorne Turn 3]

The Praetorian Swordsmen on the other flank charged and killed one Winter Guard.

mediaobject

[Overview end of Turn 3]

mediaobject

[Khador, Old Witch - Turn 4]

The Old Witch did not upkeep ‹ A Murder Of Crows › and ‹ Avatar of Slaughter › , but ‹ Iron Flesh › for free. She allocated 1 Focus to Scrapjack and 2 to Beast 09.

The Battle Engine turned around. The sharpshooter tried to pick off one of the Praetorian Swordsmen, but the Skorne was saved by the DEF bonus granted to him due to being enganged by the Spriggan - who took the hit instead, but suffered no damage.

mediaobject

[Khador, Old Witch - Turn 4]

The first of the cannons was also fired at the same Praetorian, which resulted in the Praetorian being killed, both the Carriage and the Spriggan being hit but not damaged.

mediaobject

[Khador, Old Witch - Turn 4]

The second cannon was fired on the Praetorian besides Thagrosh. The shot hit and killed the Swordsman; Thagrosh, the Forsaken and another Praetorian were caught in the blast but remained unharmed.

mediaobject

[Khador, Old Witch - Turn 4]

Scrappy ran towards the other flank. Through him, the Old Witch Arc Noded a boosted ‹ Gallows › on the Angelius which hit, caused 3 points of damage and pushed him 3".

Beast 09 used ‹ Imprint Murderous › on himself.

mediaobject

[Khador, Old Witch - Turn 4]

The Winter Guard advanced, and killed the two Beast Handlers which were already enganged in close combat. Two unengaged Winter Guard CRAed the free standing Beast Handler, eliminating him as well. The rest of the unit passed their Fear test.

mediaobject

[Legion Turn 4]

Thagrosh collected one point of Fury from the Angelius and one for free. He upkept ‹ Fog of War › .

The Angelius moved up behind the Spriggan. He hit him, boosted the armour piercing attack and dealt 18 points of damage! This left the Spriggan with a crippled movement system and left arm. The first additional attack the Angelius was forced to conduct, dealt 6 points of boosted damage. The second additional attack hit, but caused no damage. These attacks left the Angelius stationary due to the Spriggan being bonded to Sorscha.

The Forsaken advanced towards the Winter Guard unit, which passed their Fear test.

mediaobject

[Legion Turn 4]

The Forsaken then casually slew one Khadoran soldier.

Thagrosh charged the Spriggan. He hit and caused 2 points of damage, rolling a massive 2, 1 and 1 - couldn't get much lower. With an additional attack he hit, boosted the damage roll, and wrecked the Khadoran heavy 'jack with 5 points of damage.

Thagrosh then popped his Feat, bringing the Carnivean back into play, placing him in melee with the Gun Carriage. One Shredder got his Mind aspect healed, then Thagrosh cast ‹ Spiny Growth › on himself.

mediaobject

[Legion Turn 4]

The Shredder that just got healed used his ‹ Rabid › ability and attacked the Winter Guard facing him - rolling 1,1 and 1. With an additional attack he killed the adversary. This allowed him to heal two further points of damage, by ‹ Feast › ing on the body.

mediaobject

[Khador, Sorscha - Turn 4]

The Marksmen attacked the Beast Handler, but missed him three times due to the cover bonus.

Sorscha advanced, and shot her Quad Iron on the Angelius. She hit him and dealt 10 points of damage with a boosted damage roll. The second attack hit caused no damage even though the damage roll was boosted. The third attack hit and caused 5 points of boosted damage. The fourth attack as well caused 5 points of boosted damage. This left the Angelius with a crippled Mind aspect.

The Wardog protectively moved in front of Sorscha, growling at the Legion 'beasts.

Joseph gave the speach of the ‹ Strength of the Forfathers › , while hacking the last Shredder into shreds. Thagrosh did not reave the Fury.

Motivated by the speach, the Winter Guard charged the Forsaken, past their Fear test and killed the abomination with a CMA.

mediaobject

[Khador, Sorscha - Turn 4]

Jospeh gave the speach of the ‹ Strength of the Forfathers › , while hacking the last Shredder into shreds. Thagrosh did not reave the Fury.

Motivated by the speach, the Winter Guard charged the Forsaken, past their Fear test and killed the abomination with a CMA.

mediaobject

[Skorne Turn 4 & Overview at end of Turn 4]

Hexeris upkept ‹ Soul Slave › on the Gladiator with a Soul Token from Marketh.

The surviving Beast Handler engaged the Manhunter and dealt 1 point of damage.

The Gladiator used his Animus ‹ Rush › on the Cyclops, which moved and killed one Winter Guard.

The Aptimus joined the fray by also charging a Winter Guard, hit him with a boosted to hit roll and killed him.

Hexeris advanced, and cast a boosted ‹ Soulfire › , killing another Winter Guard, which returned 1 Fury to him. He then repeated the action, killing another Winter Guard. The remaining models passed their Fear test.

mediaobject

[Khador, Old Witch - Turn 5]

The Old Witch upkept ‹ Iron Flesh › for free. While Scrapjack was allocated 2 Focus, the Witch camped on 5.

The Gun Carriage turned to face the Angelius. The first gun but only rolled a 1 and 2 for damage, which did not penetrate. The second gun hit and killed the 'beast. The Preatorian was caught in the blast damage, but not harmed. The Sharpshooter on the back of the Carriage then saw to him also journeying to Urcaen. Thagrosh reaved the Fury from the Angelius.

mediaobject

[Khador, Old Witch - Turn 5]

The two surviving Winter Guard CRAed Aptimus Marketh, rolled just enough to hit and killed him.

The Manhunter moved to face the Cyclops, thus suffering a Free Strike from the Beast Handler. The damage roll was not enough to wound, but due to ‹ Anatomical Precision › , still 1 point of damage was caused.

The Manhunter then missed the Cyclops twice versus a target roll of 5.

mediaobject

[Khador, Old Witch - Turn 5]

The Old Witch cast ‹ Avatar of Slaughter › on Scrappy, who then advanced into the wood and killed the last Praetorian with a boosted to hit roll.

Beast 09 ran towards the right Khadoran flank.

mediaobject

[Legion Turn 5]

Thagrosh leached all available Fury and got one additional for free. He upkept ‹ Fog of War › , then charged the Kovnik. With a boosted hit roll, the grizzled veteran was crushed. His second initial attack Thagrosh directed on a Winter Guard which also did not stand a chance. The remaining members of the unit passed their Fear test.

Next, Thagrosh cast ‹ Draconic Blessing › on the Carnivean, then ‹ Spiny Growth › on himself for free.

The Carnivean attacked the Gun Carriage, hit and caused boosted 10 points of damage. Both Claws also attacked with boosted damage rolls, causing 5 and 3 points of damage. With an additional attack, exactly the 4 damage points left on the carriage were caused, removing the model from play.

The Legion/Skorne alliance scored the first Victory Point.

[Khador, Sorscha - Turn 5]

The Marksmen went into action first. The first took careful aim, to make sure the embarrasing three misses against the lone Beast Handler from last turn did not reoccur. He found his mark and dropped him dead. The next two Marksmen targeted the Gladiator, one missed, the other hit but only caused one point of damage, and this only due to the ‹ Sniper › ability.

mediaobject

[Khador, Sorscha - Turn 5]

The Warhound ran to the 2nd objective to be able to score there and deny it to the alliance.

mediaobject

[Khador, Sorscha - Turn 5]

Sorscha charged Thagrosh. Her boosted charge attack missed. She followed up with a fully boosted attack for 5 points of damage (getting in return 2 due to ‹ Spiny Growth › ) and a second fully boosted attack for 10 damage points and 3 return damage.

mediaobject

[Khador, Sorscha - Turn 5]

The Winter Guard Standard Bearer heroically charged Thagrosh. Although he charged him in his back arc (well, perhaps not so heroically after all...) he missed him.

The Wardog scored for Kador.

[Skorne Turn 5]

Hexeris dropped ‹ Soul Slave › .

The Gladiator used ‹ Rush › on himself again, got Riled then advanced towards the flag but did not reach it.

Hexeris charged one of the two remaining Winter Guards. He boosted the hit roll and easily removed one more Khador from the battlefield. He followed by obliterating the dog fittingly with ‹ Obliteration › . The dog's ‹ Tough › roll failed. The blast damage also managed to kill one Marksmen lurking at the edge of the woods. With an additional melee attack with a boosted to hit roll, Hexeris then finished off the Manhunter.

The Cyclops ran to the objective and was riled for two.

As one Marksman still lived, Skorne was not able to score.

[Khador, Old Witch - Turn 6]

The Old Witch upkept ‹ Avatar of Slaughter › but dropped ‹ Iron Flesh › . Three Focus were allocated to Scapjack and 3 to Beast 09.

Scrappy then charged Thagrosh. He boosted his charge attack roll and the auto-boosted damage roll combined with the effects of ‹ Avatar of Slaughter › proved to be to much for Thagrosh's stamina - he was dead. As a result, the Carnivean went wild. The second initial attack of Scrappy dealt 1 point of damage with a boosted damage roll. For all this damage output, Scrappy received 1 point of damage due to ‹ Spiny Growth › .

Next, Beast 09 charged the Carnivean and dealt 11 points of damage with his axe. The fist hit for 8 points of damage. The first additional attack missed, but the second hit for 11 points which killed the Carnivean.

The objective was cleared of Legion troops, so Khador scored the last VP needed to win.

Debriefing

  • Khador, Old Witch and Sorscha (Bernd)

This was the first game in a long time where I used a Warmachine army again.

I took a lot of Winterguard Infantry, supported by the Gun Carriage and a couple of Warjacks. My plan was to bog down the enemy troops with Iron Fleshed Winterguards so that afterwards my Warjacks would be able to get the first strike.

On my left flank the Old Witch had total control against the Skorne Forces. I think this matchup was really in my favor and I was able to shoot the Skorne Infantry before they could reach me. Because of my feat Matthias' troops were not able to gain much ground, and after the loss of their infantry it would not have been smart for Matthias to move his beasts into the range of my Warjacks. Therefore he left me the field which I think was the right call.

On my other flank I popped Sorscha's feat too early. I hoped to deal a good deal of damage to the Shredders and the Carnivean with my Winterguard, but that was not the case. Maybe I should have waited until my Warjack would have been able to attack as well.

In the end Sorschas flank was in quite some trouble and I had to pull forces from my left flank for support. But with a couple of lucky dice rolls on my side (Sorscha's Quad Iron proved to be invaluable) I managed to gain a Victory Point on that flank as well.

This game took quite some time but it was a lot of fun and I think that our system with 4 Warlocks worked out in a good way.

  • Legion of Everblight (Björn)

This battle was lost before it even started. Rumor has it the alliance with a self-fulfilling prophecy in its name being the reason for it. Everblight and Skorne formed the "Titanic Legion" and so were sunk by Khador.

In fact it was all about the rules and so one has to accept it, but in the end there may have been a chance for the "Titanic Legion" to burn Khadors frosty forces, if the alternation would have been defined as simple as it could get. Having a turn one with all Khador forces moving before all of the "Titanic Legion" and then all Everbilght and Skorne do their turn and so on, would have kept Khador away from scoring twice in a row after all blight was submerged. But this is all possibly maybe, so hats off to the winner.

Aftermath: Legion has to improve rolling the dice, especially Shredders. Skorne has to improve reading the rules - this rankles Legion still (pun lost in translation...)

  • Skorne (Matthias)

For a first game with a totally new army and a new rule system (my first Hordes game), the game went pretty well. I kept my Warlock alive and most of my 'beasts. The infantry... well... I hate the Feat of the Old Witch.

My early planned winning move was a nice thought, but I should have read the rules more carefully... After that, Khador more or less left me not much choice of acting. At the end of the game, I was in a quite good position, but much too late to change the course of the game.

I was a bit disappointed by my Feat turn. I think I used it at a good point in the game, unfortunately, the undead Khadors refused to hit their living comrades.

But I am definitely looking forward to my next game with the Skorne, they played pretty well.
